Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.

To hell and back again...twice | 03.06.2008
Another song of the day:

"I’ve been here before I should be used to it
But I can’t take it no more, I can’t take it no more"

Never found lyrics that fitted a single race so perfectly ;-)

Finding the best tapering formula | 03.06.2008
With more than 3 months to go to the austrian national championships, I'm still
working on finding the right tapering model and "last-day-checkup". The great result on
Sunday in Linz showed that an intensive training the week and especially
the days 3 and 2 before the competition suits me just fine, but I'm not sure if it's the best way (yet).

This week, however, I did hardly any training at all, but I felt awesome in the
few exercises I managed to find time for. What does this mean? That means that it
will be a hell of a fight tomorrow (sprint triathlon in Riegersburg) and
anything's possible - from podium up onto 20th place.

Call me instructor....triathlon instructor | 03.06.2008
After a whole day of exams in kinematics, training theory, first aid
and all the other stuff, I finished my fist part of becoming
an officially licensed triathlon trainer.

Only 3 semesters more to go...O.o

Linz triathlon | 24.05.2008
Great race today in Linz. Competing in a triathlon over the sprint distance (0,75 - 25 - 5) (first race this year btw) I finished in 6th place overall and third place in the under23 age-group with about a minute behind the podium.

Looking at the split times I can't and won't be satisfied with my swim time, but the bike and run segment were alright. But considering the fact that I am a lot slower than I should be in a wetsuit-swim and that the split times in the pool are alright, there may be more to it. (June's gonna be a swim-month!)

Final results:
1. Wutscher, Manuel 01:04:39
2. Lorber, Christoph 01:05:55
3. Varga, Richard 01:07:26
4. Müller, Markus 01:07:57
5. Horvath, Gerald 01:08:22
6. Scherwitzl, Boris 01:08:47

More race information and photos will follow tomorrow!

Bye Xentis, hello Zipp! | 21.05.2008
Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but honestly there wasn't much to write about.
No special training or change of any kind..

As you can see in the pic below, I made my bike
"competition ready" for the 2008 season.

With a new transmission (11-23) and the 606 Zipp wheels,
there can be no excuse on the material sector.

E-business-marathon | 15.05.2008
A friend of mine asked me to replace someone at a 8 men relay-team
this afternoon and I just couldn't say no, looking at the perspective
of the overall win.

It went very well for me with a personal best over 3000 and 5000 metres
and an overall time of 17:30 (03:03 - 03:14 - 03:23 - 03:27 - 03:22)
for 5.3 kilometres.
(first place at km #1 and second at km #2 ;-))

We didn't make the first place though (3rd overall), but it was a nice training!
