Nice commercial.. | 03.05.2008
Found this some days ago and thought, that it fits in very well at this point.
(Not that I will actually be able to catch somebody, who was in front after swimming, but the thought counts...)
DoT - Day 2 (Bike) | 03.06.2008
Very hard and hilly (and windy!!) 38 bike kilometres today..
With a time of 57:06 and average 39,6 km/h I think I was within expectations. I am still "missing something" on the bike this year, which I hope will be back during May, but I was able to defend my third place in the overall ranking.
The first two guys after swim + bike are out of reach, but I'm sure there will be a hell of a fight for the last podium place.
More updates tomorrow!
PS: It was a non-drafting race and I always kept about 10 metres distance to the man in front. (in contrary to a post elsewhere on the web ;-))
Pain | 03.06.2008
"To be a cyclist is to be a student of pain....
at cycling's core lies pain, hard and bitter as the pit inside a juicy peach.
It doesn't matter if you're sprinting for an Olympic medal, a town sign,
a trailhead, or the rest stop with the homemade brownies.
If you never confront pain, you're missing the essence of the sport.
Without pain, there's no adversity. Without adversity, no challenge.
Without challenge, no improvement. No improvement, no sense
of accomplishment and no deep-down joy. Might as well be playing Tiddly-Winks."

DoT - Day 1 (Swim) | 03.06.2008
9:30 this morning.
The gun goes off.
40 athletes in shorts and/or tri-suits jump in the water and
are about to enjoy 1500 long meters of pain and exhaustion.
I never swam such a distance in competition pace in the pool before,
so I definitely didn't want to break down and fall of pace at the end.
So I started out slow, which was - according to after-race analysis - a little bit too slow.
The last 500 felt great and I could've swam that pace another kilometer,
but the first 1000 were about 3sec / 100m too slow.
From one side I got into the race really late and had a bit too much respect from the distance.
(felt like an endurance swim with no effort whatsoever for the first km)
